High School Admissions Advisory
The High School Admissions Advisory Committee, consisting of Mrs. Rench and Miss Keaton, supports ASDS 8th graders and their families throughout the important process of choosing a high school. We are lucky in Monterey County to have many fine public and private high school options for our students so it is important for students and their families to research all the available schools to determine which is most suitable in each case.
The high school admissions advisory process begins in the spring of 7th grade with a parent information evening at which time high school admissions packets are distributed. During the first month of 8th grade, the HSA advisors conduct personal interviews with each student. Students complete detailed high school profiles which help prepare them for the application process. All teacher recommendations and transcripts are coordinated by Mrs. Crisan.
Historically, ASDS students have done quite well in high school placements. In the past five years, acceptances to local schools have included York, Santa Catalina, Robert Louis Stevenson, Palma and Notre Dame Schools; MAOS, Calvary Chapel and Monte Vista Christian Schools. In addition, some of our graduates enroll in local public schools such as Carmel, Monterey, Pacific Grove, Salinas and Seaside High Schools. Our students have also been accepted to out of area schools such as Andover, Exeter, Miss Porter’s, Madeira, Punahou, Dana Hall, Iolani, St. Andrews and Valley Christian Schools.
