Morgan Harms wins 27th Monterey Countywide Spelling Bee

All Saints Day School is proud to announce that 6th grader Morgan Harms, a member of the class of 2025 finished in first place at this year’s Monterey Countywide Spelling Bee. 
 
On Saturday, March 3, 2023, 24 students from schools across Monterey county competed to move on the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. After six rounds of spelling words like exercise, performance, mortician, heiress, quota, innovator, illusionist, windbaggery, commerce, vaccine, squander, and steppe, Morgan won this year’s Spelling Bee with the word campanology, the art of bell ringing.
 
This is the second year in a row that an All Saints student has won the Monterey Countywide Spelling Bee. Last year, Isabell Fujita, a member of the All Saints Class of 2022 won the Bee.
 
Morgan will move forward to represent Monterey County in the National Spelling Bee held in Maryland from May 30 to June 1 this year.
